SOPA is Dead (For Now)

The House of Representatives pulled the plug on the SOPA legislation on Monday January 16, averting a threat that copyright law enforcement in the US would be privatized, something that, as you may have gathered, I was not too keen on.

President Obama declared his distaste for the ill-conceived legilation over the weekend, soo that might have had something to do with it.

However, PIPA, which mirrors SOPA in many material respects remains alive in the Senate. As of this writing, Wikipedia and other widely used sites still has plans to go dark on January 18 to shine a light on this issue,
